Edward W.  Wandzy, Jr.
Edward W. Wandzy, Jr., 61, a longtime resident of Windsor Locks, entered into his eternal rest on Monday, October 6, 2008. Born on February 21, 1947 in Rockville, CT, he was the son of Shirley (Neimann) Wandzy of Ellington and the late Edward W. Wandzy, Sr. Ed was a dedicated employee of Krupa Oil in Suffield for 26 years. A veteran, Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36 in Windsor Locks. In his leisure time, Ed enjoyed gardening and tinkering with cars and small engines. He was an avid NASCAR fan. A wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Ed will be remembered for his warmth, humor and generosity. He is survived by his family, his beloved wife of 38 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Logan) of Windsor Locks; his sons, Stephen A. Wandzy and his fiancee’ Brianna Stronk of Warehouse Point, Tobey J. Wandzy, his wife Tristan and their son, Payton E. Wandzy of Spofford, NH; his brothers, Kenneth J. Wandzy and his wife Angie of Ellington, David W. Wandzy of Ellington; his sister, Lisa A. Griswold and her husband, Thomas of Ellington; his nieces and nephew, Erin A. Logan, Kate Wandzy, Mitchell Griswold, Amy Griswold, and Emma Wandzy; and his canine campanions, Radar and Misty. A procession will form at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street on Saturday, October 11, 2008 by 9:15 a.m. to St. Mary’s Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Ed’s family at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, on Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the Mental Health Association of CT, 20-30 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109 or to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
