Obituary for Alf R Monrad

Alf R. Monrad, 88, of Enfield, beloved husband of Joan (Pedersen) Monrad, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Born in Englewood, NJ on August 24, 1931, he was the son of the late Sverre and Margit (Stub) Monrad and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. Shortly after high school Alf joined the US Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He married his bride Joan in 1953 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Alf lived in Springfield for 5 years before moving to Wilbraham for 35 years, eventually settling in Enfield for the past 25 years. He worked for New England Telephone Company for many years before retiring from Verizon. Alf was a charter member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church as well as a Boy Scout leader in Wilbraham. Besides his wife Joan, he leaves 2 sons, Glenn Monrad and his wife June of Bel Aire, MD, Wayne Monrad and his wife Patricia of Mooresville, NC; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his sister Ruth Lindahl and her husband Lennart of Wilbraham.
