Obituary for Antonio "Tony" Trichilo

Antonio (Tony) Trichilo entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, July 13, 2019. He was born on September 13, 1954 in Mirto, Siderno, Reggio Calabria, Italy, on such a stormy night that he often joked that without the light of the moon or a watch, it was difficult to know exactly which day he arrived into this world. Son of the late Michele and Caterina Trichilo, he joined his older siblings, Concetta Agostino (dec. Giorgio), Esterina Fragomeni (dec. Giuseppe), Carlo (Maria), (dec.) Cosimo (Aurora), Maria Valentino (Cosimo). He was later joined by Salvatore (dec.), Rosalba Zito (dec. Giuseppe), Silvana Crupi and Roberto. At 14, Tony began his life-long work as a car mechanic working for a local garage, where he learned a trade that would make him an asset, not only to his employers, but also to his family and friends. At 18, he was selected by the Italian Navy to work on an aircraft carrier as one of their chief engine machinists. Upon finishing his service to his country, he made up plans to move to the U.S. where he lived with his sister, Concetta and her husband, Giorgio. Needing to improve his English, he was tutored by his future wife, Mary E. Civale. In 1987, Tony and Mary were married in a Roman Catholic Service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Meriden, CT. Settling in Enfield, CT, where Mary taught, they became members of the Holy Family Church and soon had two beautiful daughters, Rosaria Caterina and Isabella Maria. Tony was extremely proud of his intelligent, strong, young women. His "big one" and "little one" were the loves of his life. He taught them to be respectful, considerate, compassionate people. And a day didn't go by that he didn't hear from one or the other with whom he shared and laughed with on the phone. Tony will be sadly missed by all his family and friends who loved listening to his stories and benefitted from his sage advice. In addition to his beloved wife, daughters, and granddog, Brizzie, who will miss getting Dunkin Donut Munchkins and pieces of table food from his Grandpa, Tony is survived by his brother-in-law, Salvatore Civale (Lisa), his nephew, Adam, and numerous Canadian and Italian nieces and nephews, all who loved and respected his familial responsibility.

"On Angel's wings you were taken
But in our hearts you'll stay
And in God's light you will rest
Until we meet again someday."

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, CT 06082.
