Obituary for Bernice A. Poliks (Brzoska)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, Bernice A. (Brzoska) Poliks. She was born in Gardner, MA on June 1, 1930 the daughter of the late Alekander and Stella (Wociek) Brzoska. Bernice grew up in Gardner, MA and was a graduate of Gardner High School, where she met her husband, Ed. Ed and Bernice raised their family in Enfield and after retiring she moved to Suffield. She volunteered for many years for the Second Chance Shop in Suffield, Loaves and Fishes in Enfield, and voluntarily read to children with special needs. She was a former parishioner of Holy Family Church. She and Ed enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Bernice is survived by three children, Alan Poliks and his wife, Sandra of South Windsor, Susan McLaughlin of Centennial, CO, and Steven Poliks and his wife, Deborah of East Granby; nine grandchildren, Thomas McLaughlin, III, Ashley, Rory, and Courtney McLaughlin, Matthew, Edmund, Adam, Alekander, and Camilla Poliks; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Edmund; her son, Brian Poliks, and a sister, Helen Lorion. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, August 2, 2019, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home at 10:30 am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield.
