Obituary for Helen K. Johnson (Leary)
Helen (Huddy) K. Johnson, 76, of Enfield, beloved wife of Douglas C. Johnson, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family Thursday July 11, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Waterbury, CT on August 5, 1942, she was daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes Leary.
Helen grew up in Naugatuck before moving to Enfield at the age of 11. When she was 12, she met Doug and they were together until his passing in 2018, married for 52 years.
She worked at Pratt and Whitney prior to becoming a wife and mother. When the kids were grown, she pursued her career in Real Estate. Upon her retirement, her and Doug realized their dream of a second home in Florida and became snowbirds. In the off season she worked as a CNA and spent time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling , ceramics and painting.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother, aunt and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Boccaccio. She leaves her three loving children, Jeff Johnson and his wife Nancy of Palm City, FL, Lisa Johnson Wiecek of Somersville, CT and Kim Johnson Mailhot of Somers, CT; Ten grandchildren, Sierra, Jeffrey and Samantha Johnson, Taralyn Muddiman and her husband Alex of San Antonio, TX, Kayla Wright and her husband Chris of Saratoga Springs, NY, Ryan, Kyle and Jillian Mailhot, Emily and Alex Wiecek.
A very special thank you to her aides, Cathi, Jackie and Elosie who provided unconditional love and support to her in the past few months.
Her Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18 from 10 to 11 am at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapel, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082 followed by a brief funeral service at 11 am with burial to follow at St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
