Obituary

Karen Cecilia Self-Mann, 60, of Enfield, beloved wife of 41 years to William E. Mann III, entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, September 27, 2019, after a short battle with ovarian cancer, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Miami, FL on December 29, 1958, the loving daughter to the late John and Mary Jean (Barton) Self. Karen grew up in Windsor and was a graduate of the Windsor High School class of 1976. She, with her husband co-owned Enfield Taxi for 11 years, and she later worked for Easter Seals, Companions and Homemakers, and Paradies Shops. Her greatest profession of all was being a mother to three fiery red-headed girls. Outside of work, Karen loved to garden, cook, paint, and arrange flowers. She was a voracious reader, a dog lover, and an avid “Trekkie”.

In addition to her loving husband, William, Karen is survived by her children, Melissa Payer and her husband Kristofor of Littleton, MA, Kristen Keska and her husband Maksymilian of Plantsville, and Holly Olmstead and her husband Richard of Vernon; her grandchildren, Charlotte, Samuel, Colin, Evelyn, and Brodee; her brother Edward Self and his wife JoAnn of Windsor and their daughters Amanda and Meagan, and her brother Michael Self of East Longmeadow, MA, and numerous Mann family in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Karen’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 1 to 3 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service will follow at 3 pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
